Glassjaw began its mission to merge the power of hard-core with the sensitivity of emo in the rock-friendly settling of Long Island, New York. Frontman Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck had been buddies and musical collaborators since their teens. By 1997, the basic premise of Glassjaw had taken shape and the band recorded and released, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on 2 Cents A Pop Records.

Personnel changes continued to alter the band roster but by 2000 it seemed the line-up had finally solidified (Palumbo, Beck, guitarist Todd N. Weinstock, bassist Manuel Carrero and drummer Sammy Siegler), and Glassjaw made its major label debut, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence. The effort garnered enough positive feedback to land the band a support slot on Deftones’ summer tour that year.

After a couple more shifts in the line-up transpired (Dave Allen taking over bass duties from Carrero and former Orange 9MM drummer Larry Gorman replacing Siegler) the quintet headed for the studio to record Worship And Tribute which dropped in 2002.
